Johnsons Rock Hard At Flood Jam

On August 18th, lighting industry favorites The Swingin’ Johnsons headlined The Music Hall stage at the Suwannee Valley Flood Jam, a benefit for flood victims of Suwannee, Hamilton and Columbia counties. Held at the Spirit Of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL, the event raised proceeds for victims of Tropical Storm Debby. More than 25 bands performed at the music park, including Peter Rowan, The Lee Boys, Jamie Davis, The Heavy Pets, Donna The Buffalo and The Legendary JC’s. One hundred percent of net profits from the Suwannee Valley Flood Jam are to be donated to locally based charities, Love INC based in Live Oak, FL and The United Way based in Lake City, FL

A native of Suwannee County, Swingin’ Johnsons drummer Thommy Hall worked tirelessly to coordinate the Johnsons’ visit, collect items for the on-line charitable auction, program lighting and other antics. Sound and lighting gear for The Music Hall was provided by First Street Music. After enjoying breakfast and a tour of the campgrounds, the Johnsons played a 90-minute set of music from their first two CDs, as well as surprises like Led Zeppelin’s ‘Rock n Roll’. They later enjoyed a short seminar titled ‘Packing Up The Show’. This event also marks the first time that Bruce Jordahl was not late for the gig, thus latency was not a significant factor in his performance. However, Scott Church emerged as the evening’s MVP by refusing to utilize the lowest string on his bass. Summing up the experience, Hall said, “These guys can really play. But as roadies, they have a long way to go before they can join my crew!”

The Swingin’ Johnsons are Robert Mokry (LightParts), Scott Church (4 Wall), Thommy Hall (Vari-Lite) and Bruce Jordahl (marketing pinchhitter). In the VERY near future, the Swingin’ Johnsons will announce a major Las Vegas performance to occur in late October; for more information visit
